Who We Are

In 1983, Stephanie DiMarco was a recent UC Berkeley graduate working in a small money management firm. To track the firm’s investment positions, they were using ledger sheets kept in a master three-ring binder; when someone would buy or sell a stock, they would go to the binder and pencil in the new position.   

Stephanie recognized an opportunity to leverage technology she’d been exposed to at Berkeley and automate the process of portfolio accounting. She called a Berkeley classmate, Steve Strand, and together, they built the program that would form the foundation of Advent Software.   Today, with more than 4,500 clients around the world, Advent Software is the leading provider of portfolio management software and related services for the financial services industry.  With reliable products and a business model that works, our people have the ability to make a significant global impact.
