Pete Hess

As CEO and President of Advent Software, Pete Hess has responsibility for vision, strategy and execution across Advent’s global business. Prior to his appointment to CEO and President, Mr. Hess served as the company’s President for three and a half years, with responsibility for strategy, sales, marketing, services and product teams worldwide. Mr. Hess has been with Advent since 1994, and has held a variety of positions in the company, including Executive Vice President and General Manager of the company’s largest business units, and, previously, Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Marketing. Mr. Hess earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University.

John Brennan

Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Facilities and Community Involvement


John Brennan joined Advent in March of 2004 and is responsible for Global Human Resources, Facilities and Community Involvement. In this role, Mr. Brennan focuses on building and strengthening Advent’s world-class organization with programs and strategies to create an environment that will enable our employees to thrive, attracting and retaining the industry’s strongest talent. Before Advent, Mr. Brennan was Vice President of Human Resources for Wind River Systems, in Alameda, CA, which produces embedded software for various consumer and industrial applications. Prior to Wind River, Mr. Brennan held various positions at Visa International. Mr. Brennan began his Human Resources career with assignments at Westinghouse Electric Company and Pacific Gas and Electric. He has a master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Music from Hamilton College. He is also chair-emeritus of the Goodwill of the Greater East Bay and Chair of the California Strategic Human Resources Partnership.

Katherine Calvert

Vice President, Marketing

As Vice President of Marketing for Advent, Katherine Calvert oversees Advent’s marketing programs in the Americas and Asia Pacific. Her responsibilities include product marketing, corporate branding, public relations, lead generation, events, web and social media strategies. Ms. Calvert joined Advent in 2006 as Director of Public Relations, chartered with generating brand awareness and overseeing media and analyst relations strategy as well as executive communications. She joined Advent from Inovis, a leading B2B supply chain technology company, where she served as Senior Director of Marketing Communications, and prior to this role, she led the marketing communications team at QRS, a public company acquired by Inovis in 2004. Ms. Calvert holds a B.A. in English from the University of California at Berkeley.

Randall Cook

Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary


Randall Cook is the chief legal officer for Advent Software, overseeing the Company's worldwide legal operations. Prior to joining Advent in 2002, Mr. Cook was the Assistant General Counsel for iXL, a worldwide, public company. Before his time at iXL, Mr. Cook represented Fortune 500 telecom, aerospace and technology companies while in private practice, and he also served in several positions within the U.S. Government.  Mr. Cook previously served as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorneys’ Office in Washington, D.C., as Special Counsel at the U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as an attorney in the Executive Office of the President at the U.S. Trade Representative’s office.  He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Claremont McKenna College, and received his law degree from U.C. Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law. Mr. Cook has been admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania, and before the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Reed Colley

Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Strategy

Reed Colley is a member of Advent’ executive management team and is responsible for setting the company’s acquisitions strategy. Mr. Colley has served as General Manager of Black Diamond Performance Reporting since joining Advent in 2011, when Advent acquired Black Diamond. As founder and CEO of Black Diamond, Mr. Colley built the company from the ground up starting in 2003, growing it profitably to become the leading solution in the advisory market. Prior to founding Black Diamond, Mr. Colley was a Vice President at Investment Scorecard based in Nashville, Tennessee where he was responsible for developing the company’s Internet-based application that reported on over $200 billion in managed assets, as well as managing the product and development teams. Mr. Colley holds a Bachelor of Science with degrees in Economics and Engineering Science from Vanderbilt University.

James Cox

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer


James Cox joined Advent in 2006 and became Chief Financial Officer in 2009. In his role as Chief Financial Officer, he is responsible for Advent’s accounting and financial reporting, investor relations, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax and finance related operations. Prior to his appointment as CFO, Mr. Cox served as Corporate Controller and as Principal Accounting Officer. Prior to Advent, Mr. Cox worked at UTStarcom where he served as Assistant Controller. From 1994 to 2004, he held various positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP leaving as a senior manager. Mr. Cox holds a B.A. in Economics from Ohio University.

Todd Gottula

Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

As Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Advent, Todd Gottula sets the company’s long-term technology and solution vision, and is responsible for global solutions delivery and the company’s information technology infrastructure. Prior to this, Mr. Gottula served as Co-Head and General Manager of Advent’s Global Accounts and Tamale business units, where he held global responsibility for product design, delivery, implementation and support of Advent’s solutions for the alternative asset management industry, including the Geneva® platform. Mr. Gottula has been with Advent since 2002, holding a variety of technical leadership roles in product development and client support. Prior to joining Advent, he held development and services leadership positions with TenFold Corporation, an enterprise solution and technology provider, and process engineering and design positions at Ultramar Diamond Shamrock (now Valero) Refining and Technology. Mr. Gottula earned his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.

Chris Momsen

Executive Vice President, Sales and Solutions Management


As Executive Vice President for Sales and Solution Management, Chris Momsen is responsible for Advent’s global solutions strategy and sales efforts, aligning innovation and client requirements to deliver best-in-class solutions to the market. Before being named to his current position, Mr. Momsen served as Co-Head of Advent’s Global Accounts and Tamale business units, where he had global responsibility for strategy, product marketing and sales of Advent’s solutions for the alternative asset management industry, including the Geneva® platform. Mr. Momsen also directed global strategy and sales and marketing for Advent’s Tamale research management solution. Mr. Momsen has been with Advent since 1997, holding a variety of leadership roles in product marketing and sales, and has earned the distinction of being a top producing salesperson for the company. In 2008, he led the establishment of Advent Asia, Ltd., and is responsible for growing Advent's market share across Asia and the Pacific Rim. Prior to joining Advent, Mr. Momsen held positions at Wells Fargo in its Real Estate Capital Markets division, at a small money management firm in California, and as an options trader on the floor of the Pacific Exchange. Mr. Momsen earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA, and his MBA from New York University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Anthony Sperling

Executive Vice President, Global Client Experience


Anthony Sperling is Executive Vice President, Global Client Experience, and is chartered with ensuring client success through our global services, support, account management and renewals organization. His teams are responsible for implementation, on-boarding, product adoption, training, support, ongoing account management and renewal sales. Prior to this, Mr. Sperling was SVP, Co-Head and General Manager of Advent Software’s Asset Management Group, where he was responsible for strategy, product marketing, sales, services, and support of Advent’s solutions for the asset management industry. Mr. Sperling has been with Advent since 1993 and has held a variety of positions including Senior Vice President, Services and Vice President of Client Sales, and Director of Product Marketing. He has also had sales and services responsibilities in Advent’s European operations. Mr. Sperling holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls.

Håkan Valberg joined Advent in 2003 and is the Senior Vice President and President, EMEA, responsible for growing Advent’s market share across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa through sales and marketing. Prior to joining Advent, Mr. Valberg had accumulated over 20 years of experience working for companies providing high-end solutions to global markets. He served in senior roles for IBM, i2 Technologies, and IMI, enjoying considerable success growing their international businesses and leading large teams to achieve strategic business goals. Mr. Valberg has a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management.

Dave Welling

Vice President and General Manager, Black Diamond


As Vice President and General Manager, Black Diamond, Dave Welling is chartered with setting the company’s strategy in the advisory market and leading Advent’s Black Diamond business unit. Black Diamond is a fully outsourced, cloud-based portfolio management and reporting platform designed specifically for investment advisors and wealth management firms. Mr. Welling joined Advent in 2011, when the company acquired Black Diamond Performance Reporting. Prior to the acquisition, Mr. Welling served as Black Diamond’s Chief Solutions Officer. Prior to joining Black Diamond, he was Vice President at Schwab Advisor Services, the industry’s largest custodian for Registered Investment Advisors, where he spent over twelve years working with many of the industry’s largest and fastest-growing advisory firms. Mr. Welling holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Middlebury College and a Masters of Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Doug Yokoyama

Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO)


As Senior Vice President and CIO, Doug Yokoyama is responsible for developing Advent’s market leading trading and data services and Cloud infrastructure, as well as providing Advent with IT infrastructure that enables profitable growth and minimal operational risk. Mr. Yokoyama joined Advent in 2003 and most recently served as Co-Head and General Manager of Advent’s Asset Management Group. In this role, Mr. Yokoyama led the product development teams responsible for Advent’s solutions for the asset management industry. Prior to joining Advent, Mr. Yokoyama held a variety of product and development leadership positions in collaboration technology and portfolio management. He has also held positions in the investment management industry. Mr. Yokoyama earned an undergraduate degree in International Studies from Juniata College and an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Delaware.
