Advent Software Appoints A. George “Skip” Battle to its Board of Directors
San Francisco, CA, Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - Advent Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADVS) today announces it has appointed A. George “Skip” Battle to Advent’s Board of Directors. Mr. Battle is Executive Chairman of Ask Jeeves, Inc., a position he has held since January 2004. Mr. Battle joined Ask Jeeves in 2000 and was named CEO in December of that year. He held this position until the end of 2003 and is credited with Ask Jeeves’ turn-around, reviving the company from a near dot-com casualty to its current position as a search industry leader.
Mr. Battle is Chairman of the Board for Fair Isaac and Company, Inc., and chaired the Transaction Committee of PeopleSoft Inc.’s Board during its 18 month deliberations regarding the tender offer from Oracle Corporation. He is a senior fellow of the Aspen Institute, and a seminar moderator for the Henry Crown Fellowship, the African Leadership Initiative, and the Liberty Fellowship. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Masters Select family of funds.
Mr. Battle retired from Andersen Consulting in 1995, having joined the firm in 1968 and served as a partner from 1978 onward. From 1982 to 1995 he held a series of management positions in the firm including Worldwide Managing Partner Market Development and Managing Partner U.S. Operations and Planning. He holds an economics degree from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Stanford Business School. He is a trustee of Seneca Center and the Berkeley Community Fund.
