System requirements for Geneva 7.0 LPA and 7.1 LPA last updated on 5/2/2008.
To prevent software conflicts which would require you uninstall, reinstall, and restart, install components in the following order.
(1) Visual Studio 2005 Standard or Professional Edition (not the Premier Partner Edition)
(2) SQL Server 2005 Standard or Enterprise Edition, with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) selected
(3) BizTalk Server 2006 Standard Edition (for 5 licenses) or Enterprise Edition (for unlimited licenses)
(4) Geneva Application Server (Release 7.0)
(5) Geneva Report Developer (Release 7.0)
Hardware requirements

Note: If you want to set up report subscriptions for reports run with relative dates (EndCurrentDay, StartCurrentDay, and so on), you must use SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition.

- For report developer workstations: Business Intelligence Development Studio that includes Report Designer. Business Intelligence Development Studio is a component of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services.
NOTE: If you install Visual Studio 2005 locally at a workstation, make sure you also install Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1. This will prevent certain exception errors from occurring when you export Geneva reports. To access the service pack, go to the Microsoft Update Web site (http://update.microsoft.com).
Hardware requirements
- Sun™ Opteron™, Sun Xeon™, Sun SPARC™, or Fujitsu PrimePower™ Server that meets requirements specified in the "Server Operating System" section.
- The appropriate server size based on a detailed analysis of your business. Please contact Advent for assistance.
Operating system requirements
- If you use a Sun Opteron or Sun Xeon Server, you can use any of the following operating systems.
- Sun Solaris 10, release 8/07, 11/06, 1/06. Advent recommends patch Generic_118855-19 or higher.
- Sun Solaris 10, release 3/05.
- If you use a Sun SPARC Server, you can use any of the following operating systems.
- Sun Solaris 10, release 8/07, 11/06, 6/06 or 3/05. Advent recommends patch Generic_118833-24 or higher.
- Sun Solaris 9, release 4/03, patch level Generic_112233-11 is the minimum patch. Advent servers are also running Solaris 9, release 12/03 with patch Generic_112233-11, and release 9/04 with patch Generic_117171-12.
- Sun Solaris 8, release 4/01, 10/01, or 2/02. Patch level Generic_108528-27 is the minimum patch level recommended.
- Advent strongly advises against using patches 108528-24, 108528-25 and 108528-26. Advent Servers are also running Generic_108528-16 and Generic_108528-20.
- If your firm must move to a different patch level, we recommend running Geneva in a test environment prior to applying that patch level to your production Geneva server.
- If you use Fujitsu PrimePower™ Server you must run 64-bit Solaris™.

Geneva 7.0 requires a single server at minimum. However, Microsoft recommends installing SQL Server and BizTalk Server on separate servers for optimal performance. Advent recommends you consider this recommendation, keeping in mind the other applications you need to install and the expected load on the server.
The requirements above assume you’ll use multiple servers. If you’ll use a single server instead, you need to combine disk space requirements.
