San Francisco, April 13, 2005 – Advent Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADVS), the leading provider of software and services to the investment management industry, announces it has been named one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens 2005, by Business Ethics Magazine. Business Ethics Magazine released its annual survey of the “100 Best Corporate Citizens” in its Spring 2005 issue.
"Business Ethics Magazine conducts this annual survey because we believe the information is important to analysts, investors, consumers and the public," said Michael Connor, publisher and executive editor of the magazine. "What distinguishes the 100 Best Corporate Citizens from their peers is a commitment to higher standards. Business ethics and corporate social responsibility are increasingly important factors in measuring corporate performance, and there is a surge in demand for information and perspective on these issues."
Advent ranked 46 in the Business Ethics’ 100 Best Corporate Citizens feature, in its first appearance in the list. The company’s highest scores were in the categories of Community, Governance, Diversity and Employees. Among the programs that helped Advent stand out is its ongoing volunteer fundraising and community involvement program called “Advent Supports All Possibilities,” or ASAP, where Advent employees devote time to community service projects, including tutoring local grade-school children in the San Francisco area.
“We have established ourselves as a leading provider of mission-critical applications meeting the demands of investment management operations around the world. But we also strive to be a responsible member of the larger business community, and the local communities in which we operate. We’re thrilled to see our efforts in these areas have been recognized by Business Ethics,” said Stephanie DiMarco, founder and chief executive officer of Advent.
The 100 Best Corporate Citizens survey is based on a database maintained by KLD Research & Analytics, a Boston-based social research firm. All companies listed on the Russell 1000 Index – the 1000 largest publicly-traded companies in the United States – are considered. Companies receive rankings in eight different categories: Total Return to Stockholders, Community, Governance, Diversity, Employees, Environment, Human Rights and Product.
