Advent Software Ranks as one of Fortune Magazine’s Fastest-Growing Companies

San Francisco, August 28, 2000 - Advent Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADVS) the leading provider of Enterprise Investment Management (EIM) technology, has been chosen by Fortune Magazine as one of the country’s 100 Fastest-Growing Companies. Advent made the list this year for the first time, which appeared in the Fortune issue dated September 4, 2000.

The list, compiled for Fortune by Zacks Investment Research, was based on companies headquartered in the United States in operation for at least three years, with revenues and a market capitalization of at least $50 million. Of those, companies were then chosen that had a 30 percent annual growth rate for three years in both revenue and earnings per share, and with positive earnings in the latest quarter. They then ranked those companies by growth in revenue, EPS, and total stock market return over three years, adding the scores from those three categories.

"We continually strive to provide extremely high quality products and services, and any recognition we receive from the industry is a direct result of the commitment we make to our clients," said Peter Caswell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Advent. "Being recognized by Fortune is a great validation of the work all of our employees do each day."
