Tamale RMS® Continues Strong Momentum and Expands Global Footprint

Global Firms Across Diverse Market Segments Improve Front Office Productivity and Investment Due Diligence with Advent’s Market Leading Research Management Solution

SAN FRANCISCO – March 28, 2012 – Advent Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADVS), a leading provider of software and services for the global investment management industry, announced today that Tamale RMS®, the pioneering research management solution (RMS) that is part of the Advent suite, continues to expand its leadership across numerous market segments and geographies. Advent’s Tamale RMS® experienced strong momentum in 2011, with new clients choosing its industry leading RMS system and approximately half of existing clients expanding access to Tamale® to new users and teams in their organizations.

In 2011, approximately half of the Tamale® client base added new seats or teams, making it possible for even more investment management professionals in these firms to realize the benefits of the Tamale RMS® solution. Representative clients added in 2011 include Brinker Capital, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System, Marsico Capital Management, LLC, Oregon State Treasury, Pacific Life Insurance Co., The District of Columbia Retirement Board, TIFF Advisory Services and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

“Effective research management is a significant part of our investment process, and Advent’s Tamale® solution has helped us organize, track, access and categorize the information we need to make investment decisions that deliver the most return for the state of Oregon,” said Ben Mahon, public equity investment officer at Oregon State Treasury. “The Tamale® flexible reporting and alerts help us monitor external investment managers and streamline our due diligence process.”

Dushyant Shahrawat, senior research director at CEB TowerGroup said, “Investment firms are rapidly realizing that research management solutions are no longer simply a ‘nice to have.’ The process of managing, sharing and archiving research information is a critical issue that impacts productivity, compliance with new regulations, and eventually investment performance. Research management systems are therefore quickly becoming an essential buy-side application and finding their rightful place among other essential applications like order management and portfolio accounting.”

With greater demands for transparency and disclosure, as well as new regulatory pressures, the investment management industry is increasingly requiring enhanced automation, integration, discipline and organization in investment research processes. In 2011, Advent launched Tamale RMS® 6.0, delivering new tools to help investment firms automate the process of capturing, distributing and searching investment research data. The new version has helped investment professionals to access and manage critical investment data, which can result in improved efficiency and better-informed decisions.

In the past year, Advent continued to expand its Tamale RMS® client base in North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific, across a wide range of market segments, including asset management firms, hedge funds, wealth management firms, pensions, foundations, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, investment consultants, fund-of-funds and family offices.

“Our clients are quickly realizing how improvements in their research management process can help achieve efficiencies and deliver results for their clients,” said Advent Software’s Chris Momsen, senior vice president and general manager, Global Accounts and Tamale®. “Tamale® delivers value to firms across a diverse range of market segments and geographies. We are committed to helping them leverage technology to support their growth objectives and keep up with regulatory changes.”
