TD Waterhouse Institutional Services and Advent Software Form Alliance to Provide Investment Advisors Alternative Portfolio Management Solutions

NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO, April 15, 2002 - Advent Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADVS) and TD Waterhouse Institutional Services today announced they have formed an alliance whereby Advent will provide TD Waterhouse with software and application tools to arm their 2,000 independent investment advisor clients with an enhanced portfolio management solution. This move gives advisors managing client portfolios through TD Waterhouse even more software solutions to choose from, allowing them to maintain their independence.

Through these services, TD Waterhouse’s investment advisor clients will have two options for accessing Advent’s suite of software applications and solutions architecture:

  • Fully-integrated within Veo, TD Waterhouse’s proprietary Internet-based account management and trading platform. TD Waterhouse will deploy a special service team to provide an added level of service for advisors taking advantage of the fully-integrated product; or
  • Through installing and running Advent’s software in-house, on the advisory firm’s own servers.

Investment advisors who choose the fully-integrated version of the technology maintain the right to use the standalone version at any point in the future, therefore never tying an advisor to TD Waterhouse through the software they choose to employ. Advent has been an independent software provider to the financial services industry since 1983. A leader in the industry, Advent’s solutions have been chosen by more than 60,000 professionals at 6,500 firms across all areas of financial services, managing collectively more than $8 trillion in assets.

“Investment advisors desire a choice when it comes to services for managing their client portfolios and their businesses. Providing advisors with an array of products and services is one of the cornerstones of our business and we believe that choice should extend to providing advisors with several portfolio management software options,“ said J. Thomas Bradley, Jr., president of TD Waterhouse Institutional Services. “This relationship provides advisors with two excellent options for managing their client portfolios, while also allowing advisors the freedom to keep their business with TD Waterhouse because they are truly pleased with our service, not because they are tied to us through software."

Both options provide advisors with access to three valuable programs:
  • Axys®, the industry leading portfolio accounting and reporting system that brings speed, accuracy, and simplicity to all portfolio management functions and helps advisors by increasing productivity, reducing errors, allowing for better decision-making and enhancing client service.
  • Moxy®, a comprehensive trading and order management tool that automates the manual trading and order management processes, giving advisors more time to focus on investment strategy.
  • Qube®, a flexible, enterprise-wide client relationship management solution built specifically for financial institutions, that lets advisors tailor their client communications to build more personalized relationships and deliver more specialized service. /li>
“Advent’s philosophy has always been to provide the most robust and feature-rich technology to the financial services community, enabling firms to compete for business on an even footing. As an independent technology provider, we are pleased to join with TD Waterhouse in their efforts to give advisors the technology needed to run their business in a flexible manner, while also giving advisors the freedom and independence they desire,” said Peter Caswell, president and chief executive officer of Advent Software.
